Canon-Australia produced an incredibly powerful experiment (and video) of 6 photographers each asked to individually photograph a specific man and they were each told a different story of the man. He was a violent felon, a millionaire, someone who had saved another's life, etc. That "background" shaped their perspective and thus the portfolio they created of that man.
