Welcome to GOSH, our new Go Out and SHoot challenge!

This challenge will run for 2 weeks and the idea is to go out (or stay in) and shoot new material for it. So no images from the archives for this one.
As this is a personal challenge the winners are those that go out and shoot. That’s what this challenge is meant for: to motivate us to pick up the camera and take photographs. The themes are chosen via a poll.

>>> The theme for GOSH #3 = Found in the Junk Drawer

So show us what you have in that drawer: Old keys? Old lighter? Old coins? Stamps from half a century ago? A few half burned up candles? Unidentified objects? Let's see them!

Have fun everybody!!

Rules (we can add them as we go along and we think they're necessary)

  • Shots need to be taken within the period the challenge runs, so no images from the archives!
  • Any camera is allowed: DSLR, mirrorless, fixed-lens cameras, film cameras, phones, all are welcome
  • You can post as many images as you like
  • Likes and discussion are very welcome; the more the merrier.

PS: I'll be running a new poll for themes again in a week or so!

This is in the unidentified Category, A small jar with a Japanese Empress on the side, I presume and two key's inside it that I've no idea what they belong to.

The keys made me laugh out loud. Yep, got some of those too. Love the little jar and I love how you photographed it. Great start of this GOSH!

I’d bet a dime to a donut that I’m the only one in this group that has these in their junk drawer. I have no ideal how long they’ve been there, but heck I might need them someday.View attachment 84269
Insect pins?! Like to pin an insect to what's it called, a board of some kind, like in entomology? Those pins?

That's what they are. I think my son needed them while he was in high school. I was in Norman, so I stopped by the Oklahoma University book store and bought them.
When I was in college I used a bunch of them for my Entomology class.

Looking through my junk draw I thought all these had been thrown away. Some twenty plus years ago taking my photo's during the winter months they'd keep my hands warm. Light them then put them in a metal Enclosure and they would keep your hands warm all day. For me it's a waste of time trying to wear gloves and take photo's. So these were the ideal solution until the battery powered one's came along. Still use the battery powered one's to this day.

These are little strips of paper impregnated with a chemical. I used them while teaching genetics. About 75% of the population detect a very bitter taste when touched to the tongue. The other 25% are non tasters.
I did not have to ask for a show of hands. The faces on the students told the whole story.
After considerable thought it finally dawned on me why foods taste great to some folks and horrible to others. Some of us inherit the ability to taste things other people can’t.

That's pretty fascinating. What causes the difference?
