my uncle was part of the 28th Infantry Division that marched down the Champs Elysees, through the Arc in 1944 after Paris was evacuated by the Germans...

There’s an interesting film just out about this : “L’inconnu De La Grande Arche” - in French English and Danish . Some fact some fiction but fascinated me.
That's why I don't want an Arc built here in the USA. I think that every country that made an Arc de Triomphe had conquering armies march under it.

the Renaissance Center (colloquially known as the Ren Cen) built in 1976 as a revival symbol of the city.
Ford Motor company bought and then cleared train yard belonging to the Grand Trunk Western, then built the building. its concrete and glass. sort of the style of the day but most everyone thought it more confusing with the lay out and very cold in esthetics.
the tall tower is 76 stories and has a Marriott Hotel and a fancy restaurant on the top floor.
there were plans for 4 or 5 more of the shorter towers to the north of the main structure but they never materialized.
Ford sold to GM who made it their world headquarters after selling their original GM Building. GM now wants to move out and there are plans to demolish at least 2 of the shorter towers...
