The Sloo House (aka The Sheppard House) circa 1768, Beaufort, NC.

That is a very beautiful house! Built in 1768 it has been well cared for. I Googled "The Sheppard House in Beaufort, NC" which came back as:

The Hammock House, often associated with legends of Blackbeard, is a historic Beaufort, NC, landmark dating to circa 1700. Located on Hammock Lane, this West Indies-style home is one of the state's oldest, featuring300 years of history, including claims it served as a residence for the infamous pirate.

  • Location: 1100-1199 Hammock Ln, Beaufort, NC 28516.
  • Age: Constructed around 1700.
  • Significance: Known for its West Indies architecture and deep, varied history, including over 30 owners.
  • Legends: Popularly known as "Blackbeard's House", where it is believed the pirate stayed in 1718.

I am guessing what I was given is not what your house is? It is the same city....
 
This house is located on Front St. in Beaufort with many others like it and all are beautiful.


I took a picture of BlackBeard's house a couple years ago that is located on Hammock Ln., but can't locate it that image. Next time I'm over that way I'll take another.
